Here's what we do with it:

  • Provide the service: We use account information to manage access and subscriptions, and study content to provide tutoring and writing feedback.
  • Save your work: The app stores writing, responses, feedback and practice progress so you can return to saved work.
  • Understand usage: Usage information helps us understand how features are used and investigate problems.

3. External Services and Data Processing

The Wise Otter uses external services to run the website and app. Relevant information is sent to these providers for the functions they perform:

  • AI responses and feedback: External AI providers, including OpenAI, process the questions, writing and relevant file contents you ask the service to analyse.
  • Sign-in: Firebase processes authentication and account identity information.
  • Payments: Stripe processes checkout and billing, including account information needed to manage your subscription.
  • File storage: Cloudflare R2 stores uploaded files used by the app.
  • Analytics: Services including PostHog and Google Analytics process website or app usage information.
